Growth and Change Book Recommendations

Growth and change are 2 constants in life. I don't know about you, but I want to be constantly learning, growing, evolving and changing. Sometimes we get stuck or think we already know what we need to know about a certain subject.

I recently took the time to watch a few more episodes of Red Table Talk on Facebook. This is an intergenerational discussion of pressing topics led by Jada Pinkett Smith, her daughter Willow and her mom Adrienne. When I open myself up to hearing their stories, other women and men's stories, and stories and education from their guests, WOW do I grow and change.

I have always been a voracious fiction reader. I love nothing better than a great book. On my website, the section labeled SELF CARE has to do with finding your JOY. For me, that can be simply reading.

And when I open myself up to learning and growing through NON fiction, what a new JOY that brings to my life.

I highlight the book Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear in the SELF CARE section of my website because so much stealing of JOY can be from fear.

Here are a few more books that I have read that have brought up growth and change in me:

Becoming by Michelle Obama

Untamed by Glennon Doyle

Subtle Acts of Exclusion: How to Understand, Identify and Stop Microaggressions by Tiffany Jana and Micheal Baran

And here's what's next on my reading list:

State of Emergency by Tamika Mallory

Long Time Coming: Reckoning with Race in America by Michael Eric Dyson

We as human beings are so many things all at once. I can be a daughter, sister, mother, partner, friend, neighbor, clean product advocate, healthy living educator, voracious reader, and lifelong learner ALL AT THE SAME TIME.

Find your joy this Summer y'all.
